My Specialties & Services

Finding the right therapist is a personal process. Here you will learn more about my clinical orientation and style in order to help you determine if working with me toward your emotional, intimate relationship and personal growth goals feels comfortable and safe.

Thank you for taking the time to get to know me and my work. It is my goal to approach all my clients with empathy, respect, attunement, and a working knowledge of how to be the most supportive and helpful.

I work with

Individuals, Couples & Groups

Relationships matter – they help us function better as individuals and live our lives from a more grounded place. A safe, nurturing, and loving relationship has the power to heal experiences of isolation, anxiety, trauma, and loneliness.

In my work, my role is to help couples and individuals build those relationships with the people in their lives. I offer over 30 years experience helping clients exit negative cycles and transform their relationships into ones that are more secure, intimate, and deeply connected.

My approach is always foremost: humanistic, holistic, and non-shaming.

Individual Therapy

I offer Individual Therapy for anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, phase of life challenges, life transitions, intimate relationship difficulties, grief and loss, and LGBTQ issues.

I offer significant experience working with individuals dealing with multiple forms of addiction. Helping people see how addiction is often a coping strategy for managing pain, or a reward system that is no longer working. I know how to incorporate the use of 12 step work for those using that resource as a strength-based support.

This includes:

  • Alcohol
  • Substance use
  • Sexually compulsive behavior
  • Depression
  • Anxiety

Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy

My approach to Couples Therapy helps couples identify negative patterns of communication, and recognize and express their experiences safely with one another. I give my couples tools to see how their behaviors and reactive emotional responses may make it more difficult to hear, understand and bond more intimately.

As an Advanced Emotionally Focused Couples Therapist (EFT), I show couples how to exit their negative cycles and transform their relationship into one that is more secure, intimate and deeply connected.

I specialize in working with couples to address and remedy:

  • Conflict
  • Issues of infidelity/Breaches in trust
  • Sexual incompatibility
  • Feeling alone and disconnected in the relationship
  • Premarital Counseling
  • Challenges in the relationship due to alcohol or substance use, sexual compulsivity including porn addiction, and other compulsive behaviors.

Attachment Based PTSD/ EMDR Therapy

I work with individuals experiencing PTSD by utilizing EMDR protocols and Mindfulness-Based Practice.

I am trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy to treat PTSD, trauma and unresolved painful memories.

EMDR is a non-invasive treatment that offers a special capacity to overcome the often devastating effects of psychological trauma. Through EMDR therapy, patients are able to reprocess traumatic information, naturally developing healthy coping strategies, until the trauma is no longer psychologically disruptive.

I look forward to working with you

I love helping people recognize that the distress in their relationship is not the relationship itself, but rather a negative cycle of communication that has taken it over, often subconsciously.

When we can express our deepest longings, needs, and hopes for the future of our relationships, then can feel nurtured, supported, and deeply connected.

It is my honor to work with all members of the following communities: Traditional, Gay allied, Bisexual/Polyamory allied, HIV/AIDS allied, Transgender allied.
